FS: IWC Jubilee Portugieser, limited edition of 50 for PISA Ref 5441-07

Here is my beautiful steel Portugieser, from a 50 pieces limited edition of 1997 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Italian retailer PISA (Milano).

Reference is IW5441-07 and details on its history etc can be found in Greg Steer’s and Terry Russel’s  articles at:

After the original  675  Portugiesers ref. 325  produced in the 1940’s,  in the early 1990’s  (in occasion of its IWC’s  125th  Anniversary),  Kurt Klaus exhumed the cal 982,   and  in 1993  IWC produced the Anniversary edition ref. 5441.  These were  1000 watches with steel case, 500 in red gold and 250 in platinum.

Several years after the Jubilee was introduced, IWC produced what might possibly be the last of the Portugueses from the original lineage.  Itself a commemorative watch celebrating 50 years of business for the dealer/Orologeria Pisa/in Milan, Italy, the “Pisa” Portuguese was released in 1996/1997.  At an issue of only 50-pieces, the Pisa has become as hard to find as the early originals, though much easier to authenticate.

Very recently IWC has introduced the newest Jubilee (for the 150th Anniversary)  but in my humble opinion does not have the kudos of the historic IWC movement.

The Pisa is essentially   identical in most respects to the previous Portugueses, the Pisa differed from the Jubilee only in dial appearance, featuring Breguet numerals and blued hands found on some of the earlier vintage models. The Pisa would have its own special movement engraving similar to the Jubilee and would remain a true Portuguese in all respects.

Mine is a complete set with all the original alligator strap and buckle, boxes and papers.  Case is steel (42mm) with sapphire back, conditions are excellent and  it is 100% original.  This watch has been used maximum a dozen times, ,  and I will have to organize a first class service by IWC or an excellent watchmaker before re-using it.

This watch is now for sale.  I am looking for 17,000 GBP,  a bit negotiable.  Pleae contact me if you are interested.
